ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was killed early Friday when his pickup truck slammed into the back of a dump truck in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal wreck happened around 5:35 a.m. on Jones Avenue near Jewel Foliage Road in Orange County.
The FHP said preliminary evidence shows that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Jones Avenue west of Jewel Foliage Road and failed to slow or stop for a dump truck ahead, colliding into the back of it.
The driver of the pickup was taken to Advent Health Apopka Hospital and was pronounced dead, according to troopers.
The driver of the dump truck, a 38-year-old Eustis man, was not injured.
Jones Avenue is blocked in both directions as the FHP conducts an investigation.
