Clouds and rain

Happy weekend! The typical summer-like pattern continues into the weekend. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the lower 90s across Central Florida with the feels like temperatures between 100°-105°. Stay hydrated.

Heat index

Rain chances go up through the afternoon hours between 60-80%. Numerous storms will have the capability of producing heavy rain at times, frequent lightning and gusty winds between 20-25 mph.

Clouds and rain

We’ll continue an unsettled weather pattern heading into the upcoming work week. Daily highs warm into the lower to middle 90s with a 50-60% chance for scattered rain and storms.

Tropics:

Tropical Storm Beryl

Tropical Storm Beryl continues to swirl over the open Atlantic Ocean. As of the 5 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, it’ll continue to strengthen as it moves westward towards the Windward Islands. It’s forecast to become a category 1 hurricane tonight or Sunday then a category 2 hurricane on Monday before moving into Caribbean Sea. A hurricane watch is in effect for Barbados and tropical watches or warnings will likely be issued for the Windward and southern Leeward Islands later today.

Beryl

Invest 94L

A broad area of low pressure off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula has a 40% chance of tropical development in the next 2-7 days. Atmospheric conditions are marginally conducive for further development in the Bay of Campeche. A tropical depression could form early next week before moving into Central Mexico.

Tropical Wave

A tropical wave found several miles south-southwest from the Cabo Verde Islands has a low chance of tropical development in the next 2 days but a 50% in the next 7 days. Conditions are generally favorable for it to become a tropical depression by midweek.
