Expected to become a short-lived tropical storm

ORLANDO, Fla. – The disturbance known as Invest 94L, has organized into a tropical depression in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

The system could briefly reach tropical storm status before making landfall in Eastern Mexico Monday. As of 5 p.m., tropical depression there has maximum sustained winds pf 35 mph. The storm was moving west at 12 mph.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Beryl remains a powerful category 4 hurricane. As of 5 p.m. Beryl is packing winds of 130mph and is moving west northwest at 18 mph. Beryl’s minimum pressure was at 960 millibars.

On the heels of Beryl, another disturbance has a high chance for tropical development. Invest 96L, has a 40% chance for development over the next 2 days and a 70% chance over the next seven.
