Area’s first festival celebrating Asian influence in film

TAMPA, Fla. – For the first time in the area’s history, an Asian film festival is coming to Tampa this month.

The Tigertail Asian Film Festival is a one-of-a-kind event, taking place on July 13 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at LOOK Dine-in Cinemas in Tampa. It is a celebration of Asian cinema that brings together filmmakers and artists, along with film enthusiasts, to explore “the diverse and vibrant tapestry of Asian cultures through the medium of film,” according to the festival’s website.

It will showcase a selection of contemporary and classic films with origins from all across Asia. The lineup provides guests with an opportunity to experience rich storytelling traditions, compelling narratives and innovating techniques that define the culture’s cinematic landscape. There will also be live entertainment, with stand-up comedians and live painting shows by Asian-Americans artists, interactive workshops and an awards ceremony.
