APOPKA, Fla. – A 15-year-old was arrested on Friday following a threat during Apopka High School’s live-streamed pep rally, according to the police department.

In a release, police announced that around 7 a.m., a threat was posted in the livestream’s chat, which prompted the school to be placed on hold.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as a 15-year-old in Apopka.

“The Apopka Police Department takes threats of violence seriously, and this behavior will not be tolerated,” Deputy Chief Jerome Miller said. “Public safety remains our top priority, and we acted swiftly to address the threat.”

Police said that the teen now faces a charge of making threats to kill, injure, conduct a mass shooting, or an act of terrorism, as well as a charge of disrupting a school function.
