MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Four people were arrested this week after over 7,000 pounds of litter were left at a property in Marion County, according to the sheriff’s office.
In a news release, deputies said they responded to several properties along Southwest Highway 200 on Aug. 29, where multiple homeless camps had been set up.
In response to the encampments, the property owner had asked deputies to trespass the people living on these properties, the release shows.
Upon arrival, deputies found 12 occupants who had “accumulated a large amount of garbage and materials” at the site, investigators announced.

According to deputies, the occupants were trespassed and given until Sept. 2 to gather their belongings and remove the garbage from the property, and deputies gave them a large supply of 55-gallon bags to help with the waste collection.
However, when deputies returned on Sept. 6, they found that little effort had been made to clear out the litter, and four people were still on the property. They were as follows:
Marion County Solid Waste responded to the scene to remove the debris, providing weigh tickets for the waste.
In all, deputies said Cole and Moon were responsible for around 3,200 pounds of litter, and Gish and Robinson were responsible for 4,200 pounds.
As a result, all four were arrested on Tuesday. The face charges of felony littering of more than 500 pounds, and Cole faces additional charges of possessing fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
