40% chance for tropical development through next seven days

No description found

The National Hurricane Center has once again increased chances for tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico.

A broad area of low pressure is expected to develop over the Southwest Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.

After that, gradual development is possible and a tropical or sub-tropical depression could form next.

The leftovers from Tropical Depression 11 crossing over from the Pacific may help to kickstart development.

Regardless, heavy rain will be possible for portions of the Florida peninsula starting late in the weekend and through next week.

Milton is the next name on the 2024 hurricane season list.

Hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
